Steam & Press Performance

The 71HD uses a Supertherm heating plate for even heat distribution with minimal radiation towards the user. As the handle is pressed to half-close, steam fires automatically — no button to hold, no timing required. The result is consistently flat, crease-free results with noticeably less effort.

For delicate items or dry pressing, steam can be switched off entirely. The wide opening angle gives ample space for bulky garments and prevents fabric from catching during use.

Yes — shirts are one of the 71HD’s strengths. Once you’ve learned the technique (covered in the instruction video), an everyday shirt takes around 1–2 minutes.

Is it quicker than a regular iron?

Most users report cutting their ironing time by half or more. The combination of plate size and pressing pressure means fewer passes and less repositioning per item.

Do you use it sitting or standing?

It’s designed to be used sitting at a table, which most users find far more comfortable than standing. An optional telescopic height-adjustable press stand is also available if you prefer to stand.

How much does it cost to run?

Approximately 8–10p per hour — similar to a standard iron. Because you’ll finish faster, total running cost per ironing session is typically lower.

How long will it last?

Well-maintained, around 10 years. Maintenance amounts to wiping the plate after use and occasionally replacing the cover, foam underfelt and water filter — all of which are included free.

Does it fold away easily?
