Why limescale matters on a roller press
Hard water is the silent killer of every steam-fed ironing system. As untreated water evaporates inside the boiler, calcium deposits crust onto heating elements, narrow steam ducts, and spit through onto fresh laundry. A softener cartridge stops the problem at source - before scale ever has the chance to form.
Pre-filled, ready to fit
Crystals come sealed inside the cartridge body - no loose granules, no spillage, no measuring. Pop the old one out, drop the new one in.
Protects the boiler
Removes the calcium and magnesium ions that cause limescale, extending the life of the heating element and internal steam pathways.
Cleaner steam output
Soft water means no white spotting, no scale particles spitting through onto linen, and consistent steam pressure throughout the working day.
Monthly rule of thumb
As a general guide, replace every month. Heavy steam users or hard-water areas may need to swap sooner; light use may stretch longer.
Avoids costly call-outs
Cheaper than a service visit and far cheaper than a replacement boiler. Keeping fresh cartridges on the shelf is the simplest preventative maintenance going.
Drop-in cross-compatibility
Fits both Pfaff and Speedypress 560 and 580 roller presses — one part number for the whole 560/580 range.

Answers to questions about this product...
This cartridge is designed for Pfaff 560 and 580 roller presses, plus Speedypress 560 and 580 rotary ironers. It fits the Pfaff Roller Press Cleaner reservoir and provides one compatible consumable across the 560/580 range. Buyers should still confirm their machine model before ordering, particularly where equipment has been modified or purchased second-hand.
The ion-exchange crystals remove calcium and magnesium ions from the water before they can form limescale inside the steam system. This helps protect boiler heating elements and internal steam passages, supporting more consistent steam delivery. It can also reduce the risk of scale particles or white spotting transferring onto freshly ironed flatwork.
A monthly replacement is the usual guide, but the correct interval depends on local water hardness and steam usage. Commercial laundries or ironing services in hard-water areas may need to replace it sooner, while lighter users may achieve a longer service life. Reduced steam pressure, white spotting or visible scale are practical signs to fit a fresh cartridge.
Yes. The cartridge is pre-filled with sealed ion-exchange crystals, so there are no loose granules to measure or spill. Remove the used unit from the cleaner reservoir, drop in the new cartridge and lock it into place. Keeping spare cartridges available helps avoid delaying routine preventative maintenance when a replacement is due.
Buyers should verify that their equipment is a Pfaff or Speedypress 560 or 580 model and that it uses the compatible cleaner reservoir. This product is sold as a single cartridge, so businesses with frequent steam use may prefer to hold multiple replacements. Water hardness and production levels should also be considered when planning stock requirements.
